Freezer Beef

Moooove on past corporate “farms.” There’s no supply chain disruption when your home freezer is stocked with freezer beef. It will be available whenever you’re hungry for a great steak or burger.

We are a small-scale farm. Our cattle have plenty of room to roam and graze. They are primarily raised on grass. Their diet is supplemented with grain and hay from our farm. This helps enhance the taste of the meat by providing extra marbling.

We sell beef by the 1/4, 1/2 or whole. Iowa State University Extension provides a helpful reference, the Beef and Pork Whole Animal Buying Guide, regarding buying beef directly from a farmer. Be sure to select the FREE PDF option.

Customers purchasing a whole or half will have their choice of
dates based on first to call, first booked. Those purchasing a quarter will be paired with another customer purchasing a quarter so both receive meat cuts from the front and hind sections.

Each beef is unique. A half can average 250-400 pounds hanging weight. A whole can average 650-800 pounds. Beef scheduled earlier in the year will weigh less than those scheduled later.

How much freezer space will you need for your beef? “In terms of how much freezer space will be needed, the general rule is one cubic foot per 35-40 pounds of packaged meat” (Michigan State University).
